Flat Stanley arrives... 1st stop Austria!

Dear Owen,

The first stop on Flat Stanley's European adventure is here in my city of Vienna in the country of Austria. Which is about 6000 miles away from San Ramon! The city of Vienna is a very magical little place, known for classical music, delicious desserts, kings and queens, mighty battles, and traditional ball room dancing! There are castles, horses carriages, and mountains that are as high as there are clouds in the sky.

Among other special and famous people to come from Austria, like the Californian Governor - Arnold Schwarzenegger, there were many many other famous people. One of the most famous was from Salzburg and lived many years here in Vienna. His name was "Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart"? His full name is Johann Chrysostom Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. You might know him simply as Mozart? He was born about 250 years ago in January of 1756. He wrote over 600 songs. How old are you again? Well guess what... when Mozart was only 5 years old, he wrote songs and played both the piano and the violin for Kings & Queens! Can you imagine? Wow! The country of Austria had an Emperor only 60 years ago. The Emperor is sort of like the King of Kings, and there's only one more living Emperor in the world today. Do you know where? In Japan, and what's pretty cool is that the Emperor of Japan is actually visiting Austria this week.

When Flat Stanley returns from his adventure here in Austria, you should try to learn more this really cool country. Not only do I live here, but so does Lili. Her family is from a city South of Vienna called Graz, and perhaps we will show Flat Stanley this city also.

Both Lili and I really miss you buddy! I think Flat Stanley misses you also, but he's a tough guy that can handle it. Well, this is just the beginning of our adventures, so we'll keep good care of Flat Stanley and show him a great time in Austria and in Europe over the next month or so, and then make sure that he returns safely to you there in San Ramon. Thanks for sharing Flat Stanley with us, we're going to have great adventures!!
